How to Download Ringtones to iPhone

Many users want to customize personalized ringtone for their iPhones using their favorite songs. But they feel overwhelmed as it is not that easy to make ringtones for iPhone. If you want to create ringtones to your Phone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, you have two options. You can make ringtones for iPhone with TuneFab WeTrans and iTunes. In this guide, we will show you how these methods perform.

Part 1. Download Ringtones for iPhone with TuneFab WeTrans

TuneFab WeTrans is a professional iOS data manager which allows you to make ringtones with songs you like. You can import songs from PC or from iOS device. You can set start time, end time, and length for the ringtone. After the ringtone is created, you can transfer it directly to your iPhone. To get to know more tips about how to make ringtones with this program, just refer to the below contents.


Step 1. Download and Install TuneFab WeTrans

First of all, click the download button to download TuneFab WeTrans from our website. When download completed, click the installation package to install the software in your computer. Once installation is done, click the software icon to open TuneFab WeTrans.

Step 2. Connect iPhone to PC

Once TuneFab WeTrans is open, connect your iPhone (here we use iPhone X Max) to the computer with the USB cable that came with it. Don't forget to unlock the iPhone screen to "Trust this Computer" to read the data from your iPhone X Max.


Step 3. Select Songs for Making Ringtones

At the left pane, choose "Toolbox". Then under the "Tools" list, click "Ringtone Maker". Then you will be asked to select music files to make ringtones. TuneFab WeTrans allows you to import music files from your iPhone and the computer.

Add files from PC: To import music from your computer, click "Add file from PC". Then open the folder in which music files are stored and choose items from your computer.


Add files from device: To import music from your iPhone, click "Add file from device ". Then you can import data from the connected iPhone.

Step 4. Customize Ringtones for iPhone

Now you can make ringtones for iPhone. In TuneFab WeTrans, you can set starting point and ending point respectively for the ringtone. Besides, you can choose the folder to save exported ringtones. Please note that SMS ringtone length cannot exceed 29 seconds.


Note: If you want to sync the customized ringtone to your iPhone directly, please select "Add to device" option before generating the iPhone ringtone. By doing so, the ringtone will be automatically added into your iPhone when the it is created.

Step 5. Generate Ringtone for iPhone

When you finish configuration, click the "Generate" button. TuneFab WeTrans will generate ringtones for your iPhone immediately. When the software generates ringtone successfully, you can click the "Generate again" and repeat steps above to generate more ringtones again. If you want to download ringtones from PC to your iPhone X Max, click "Open folder" and then remember the location of the ringtones. Please note that ringtone made by TuneFab WeTrans are in M4R format.


Part 2. Download Ringtones to iPhone with iTunes

In Part 2, we will show you how to create a ringtone on iTunes for iPhone X Max.


Step 1. Download and Install iTunes

Download and install iTunes in your computer. Then launch the program. Before using the program, you are advised to set auto-sync prevention. To achieve this goal, please go to "Edit" > "Preference" > "Devices". Then check "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically".

Step 2. Configure Import Settings

Go to "Edit" > "Preference" > "General". Click the "Import Settings". In the "Import Settings" page, choose "Import Using AAC Encoder". Then click "OK".

Step 3. Customize Ringtone with iTunes

Go to Music Library and right click the song which you want to set as a ringtone. Select "Get Info". Select the start time and stop time box under Options. Then click the "OK" button.


Step 4. Create AAC Version and Rename it to Tones Folder

While the song is highlighted in iTunes, go to File > Create New Version > Create AAC Version.

Drag and drop the ringtone to your desktop, and right-click on this item and rename it to .m4r.

Step 5. Drag Ringtone from Desktop to Tones Folder

Connect your iPhone X Max to the computer. When your iPhone is recognized, select your iPhone icon in the iTunes program. Under "On My Device", open "Tones". Drag the song which you have renamed from the Desktop to the "Tones" folder in iTunes.


Step 6. Sync Song from iTunes to iPhone X Max

In the settings section, choose the "Tones" option. Make sure that "Sync Tones" is checked.

Now, press the "Sync" button to sync iTunes to your iPhone.


After syncing, the song is available on your iPhone. To set the song as ringtone, go to Settings > Sounds > Ringtone.


Now you can choose the method you like to create your customized ringtone. Have fun!
