Guide: 2 Simple Ways to Record CSGO

Counter Strike: Global Offensive or CSGO is very popular among the global game community, which has attracted a great number of fans. And, CSGO enables each player together with other players to enjoy the thrilling gaming hours. So some CSGO gamers would like to record the gameplay for sharing your victory moments, or analyzing your failure to promote your game skills.

But, recording the CSGO gameplay is not so easy as you think. To save your time to figure out the method, we directly offer you two simple ways here to record CSGO. Now let's move on:


Part 1. First Method - Go Record CSGO in 60FPS

Open Broadcaster Software, also known as OBS is a free and open source streaming and recording program developed by the OBS Project. With OBS, you can easily record CSGO videos in 60FPS. 5 sections together, including Scenes, Sources, Audio mixer, Transitions and Control shape the interface.


1. Operating System Supported: Windows 7 and later, OS X 10.8 and later, and Linux Ubuntu 14.04 and later.

2. New sources can be easily added and existing sources can be copied.

3. Audio quality can be improved by means of the mixer.

Before we start recording, you have to boot up CSGo first.

Step 1. Install and Launch OBS

When you have launched OBS, right click the "Sources" box at the bottom of the interface, then choose "Window Capture". You need to name it. For your convenience, you can name the source as "CSGO".

After adding the source, you have to choose "Counter Strike: Global Offensive" as the window to capture, then click "OK". The CSGO window will pop up in the recording area in OBS immediately.

Step 4: Video Setting

Click "File" > "Settings" at the upper left corner of OBS and then choose "Video". Choose "60" as your "Common FPS Values" and click "Apply" then "OK".

Step 5: Start Recording and Play the Game

Finally, click "Start Recording" and go play CS Go. When you want to stop recording, just go back to OBS and click "Stop Recoding".

Generally speaking, OBS is complicated to use.  If you want to record CSGO videos of high definition, there are plenty of settings you have to set. Those above are just some basic steps for you to record a normal video. What's more, some users claimed that lags exist when they capture the CSGO. Click on the "More Settings" button on the main interface, then "Output" to choose an output folder. Click "Output" to choose the format for saving files. Formats including WMV, MP4 are available. You can choose output quality from "Lowest", "Low", "Middle", "High", "Highest" to "Lossless".

Step 4. Record and Preview the Video

After the above settings are made, click on the button "REC" to start recording. You have to start CSGO after a three-second countdown ends. When you stop recording, you are able to preview your excellent CSGO video. Finally, remember to save the video by clicking "Save" in the lower right corner.
