Google Hangouts is a communication platform developed by Google which includes instant messaging, video chat, SMS and VOIP features. With the help of a Google Hangouts, users can make a video call, make a phone call or send a message to someone you like. Hangouts allow conversations between two or more users, that means users can contact and communicate with their colleagues in a multi-user video conference room, they can also use Hangouts to hold a business meeting to discuss a specific hot topic or an urgent problem to solve, or just to have a multi-user video chat.
It's a great choice to save these happy hours or important business meetings. Many people have this idea but don't know how to record them. In fact, there are a number of methods, and then I'll provide a detailed description of the two recording methods.
YouTube allows all users to use a mobile phone number to verify their own accounts to use real-time streaming media capabilities. Therefore, you can record Google Hangouts on Air with YouTube Live Feature. You need to follow a few steps to set up a live stream with YouTube Live. You can proceed as follows:
Step 1. Go to Live Streaming Events in Creator Studio. Click on the blue link to create a channel.
Step 2. Go to Video Manager > Live Events, make sure to Enable Live Streaming. Click on New live event.
Step 3. Select Quick option.
Step 4. Give a title for your live stream.
Step 5. Click on "Go live now" to start recording or enter in details to schedule your event for later.
Step 6. Use Hangouts to broadcast live.
Another way to record your Google Hangouts is through a screen recorder. I think it would be better to use a third-party software because the network instability is easy to live delay or buffer. For the sake of recording videos' fluency and quality, I recommend you to use TuneFab Screen Recorder.
This software is specially designed for Windows (10/8.1/8/7) users, and it provides many useful functions for screen recording. You can record Google Hangouts, online videos, games and webcam videos and take a screenshot with this powerful recorder. You can even make video tutorials through TuneFab Screen Recorder because this software also provides you with the ability to highlight your cursor, customize size and color. Now, how to record Google Hangouts with this software? Let us see the detailed steps.
Step 1. Download and Launch TuneFab Screen Recorder
Launch TuneFab Screen Recorder, then click on "Video Recorder" section from the interface. "System Sound" and the "Microphone" should be selected. Before you start Hangouts, you need to make sure that you download and complete all the settings. The next step we start to set up.
Note: Purchase the full version, or you can only record a video for no more than 3 minutes.
Step 2. Choose a Location of Output Files
Click the gear button and go to "Preferences" > "Output" > "Location of output files" to choose an output folder for your Google Hangouts videos files.

WMV or MP4 is available to select as output format in "Preferences" > "Output" section. You can also set the video codec, video quality, and audio.
Step 4. Reset Hotkeys
If you want to reset the hotkeys, go to "Preferences" > "Hotkeys" and then manually change the hotkeys one by one, for example Start/Stop record, Pause/Resume record, Snapshot, etc.

After all the preparations are completed, open the Google Hangouts. You can select "Full screen" or "Custom" to custom the recording area of your screen. You can click the "REC" icon to record it immediately. Then click "Save" to save the video.
