Different Ways to Capture Screenshot on Windows XP/7/8/10

In many situations, we need to capture screenshot on our computer to share your screen with others. However, it's a little bit different from capturing screenshots for different operating systems. In this post, I would like to show you how to capture screenshot on Windows 10/8.1/8/7/XP/Vista.


Part 1. Shortcuts to Take Screenshot on Windows 10/8.1/8

Step 1. Hit on "Win" + "PrtScn" at the same time and the whole screen of your computer will be captured.

Step 2. Type in "Paint" on your computer and hit on "Enter", it will start searching your computer for the built-in Paint program.

Step 3. Hit on "Paint" in the panel to launch the program.

Step 4. Paste the screenshot you just captured into Paint by "Ctrl" + "V" or hit on "Paste" in the interface.

Step 5. Now you can edit, resize, cut, rotate, note the screenshot as you wish and save it in your computer.

Part 2. How to Capture Screenshot on Windows 7/XP/Vista

To take a specific screenshot on your computer, say Windows 7/XP and Vista, you can try the useful method below.

Step 1. Click the "Start Menu" and find "Snipping Tool" from the panel.

Step 2. As you can see in the interface below, hit on "New" and you will have 4 options: 1. Free-form Snip 2. Rectangular Snip 3. Window Snip 4. Full-screen Snip Choose the one you want and move on.

Step 3. Include the area you want to take a screenshot and move on and paste the screenshot into the "Snipping Tool". Now you can edit the screenshot by adding notes, highlighting and erasing it.

Step 4. Choose "Save" to save the screenshot on your computer.

These two methods can help you capture screenshot on your computer no matter it is Windows 10/8.1/8/7 or old operating systems like Windows XP and Vista. However, to take screenshots with Paint or Snipping Tool is not the simplest way to take screenshots. It is time-consuming if there are many screenshots to capture.
