iOS 12: How to Search Songs by Lyrics in Apple Music on iPhone & iPad

iOS 12 has come with many improvements on its running speed, camera effects, photo sharing and searching, Siri shortcuts, privacy and security, etc. For Apple Music subscribers,  there are some of the new features added in iOS 12 that will let you enjoy Apple Music more easily. Part 1. How to Search Songs by Lyrics in Apple Music

First of all, make sure that you have updated your system to the newest version, iOS 12, if you don't know how to update, then go to the part 3. After that, follow the step-by-step guide as below.


Step 1: Launch Apple Music on your iPhone or iPad.


Step 2: Click on "Search" icon on the menu bar where can be found on the bottom of the screen to go to the search screen.


Step 3: On the search screen, type part of the lyrics of  a song into the search bar and then click on "Search" button. Besides, you can also find recent and trending sections on the screen. For example, if I want to find a song containing lyric of "Do you have to let it linger", then I need to enter the lyric on the searching bar and click on "Search" button on the keyboard.


Step 4: You need to click on "Apple Music" rather than "Your Library" under the search bar, otherwise you may not get any search result. But if you have added the song you want to search to the library, then you can find the song no matter you click on "Apple Music" or "Your Library".


Step 5: After that, you can find songs containing the lyric of "Do you have to let it linger" on the screen. Just click on one of the song to see whether it is what you find.

Part 2. Notice of Search Songs by Lyrics in Apple Music

When you search songs by lyrics in Apple Music on iPhone or iPad, you need to keep below information in mind.


#1. If you don't get any search results, then you need to try typing out a few more words. For example, enter "Do you have" on the search bar.


#2. In case that you can't see the right songs on the searching screen, you can click on "See All" icon under the "Your Library" to find more results of songs with the lyrics.


#3. Actually both free-trial and paid Apple Music Music subscribers can get Apple Music lyrics on iPhone and Android, now iOS 12 can do more for you. However, without Apple Music subscription, you can't play the songs you search.


#4. Except searching songs by lyrics, you can also search the album, artist and song name or use Siri's song recognition feature in Apple Music.


Part 3. How to Update to iOS 12

As Apple Music is much easier to use and has more personalized features such as searching songs by lyrics in iOS 12, so why not update to iOS 12 right now? But do you know how to do that? It can't be easier, just follow the below instruction. But before that, you had better back up the important information of your iPhone or iPad via iCloud or iTunes just in case you may need it.


Step 1: First of all, plug your device into power and make sure you are able to access the Internet.


Step 2: Go to Settings > General > Software Update. You can find the number of 1 on the right of Software Update option which means you can update to a newer system.


Step 3: Then click on Download and Install. You may receive a message requiring you to temporarily remove apps to get enough space for the update, just click on Continue or Cancel.


Step 4: Next click on "Install" or "Later" and select Install Tonight or Remind Me Later". But don't forget to keep your device fully charged to avoid your device auto off during update.


Step 5: At last, Just wait patiently. You may be asked to enter your password during update.

Update to iOS 12


Except update your device wirelessly, you can also use iTunes to update to iOS 12. Just connect your device to your computer that has installed the latest version of iTunes, then go to your device > Summary > Check for Update > Download and Update.
